Dancing with The Stars
Season Seven Review — Final Three Couples

By Dr Matt

Here are the weekly Recaps from the Top Thirteen Couples to the Final Three:

Intro       13      12      11      10       9       8       7       6       5      4     Final 3

Finals Night!

Three Couples compete tonight! The excitement IS palpable this week, really!

Brooke Burke & Derek Hough have the highest scoring average this season;
Lacey Schwimmer & Lance Bass had the best scores last week on Final Four Night. Finally, Kym Johnson & Warren Sapp have received scores higher than they deserved—and leau of actual Dancing talent, Warren delivers great personality to his performances (gag!).

After eight weeks of competition, it comes down to four couples

Here's my Less to Best Ranking for Week Number Nine:
** Click the Pro's Name to see a Video of each couples Intro & Performance
Again, to my frustration, I haven't been adding links lately, because Dick Clark Productions has been on a rampage, shutting down every new YouTube posting of DWTS. Sorry! They're acting like they own the copy rite—of course, they do.   :o)

    6 - WARREN SAPPKym Johnson  ( J-Score: 9 + 8 + 8 = 25,   J-Rank #6 )
                  Samba —

The Judges are seeing, what I'm seeing. Warren is NOT as good as the other two couples in the finals. To compensate, and give Big Boy a sense of being competitive, the Judges emphasize Warren's enthusiasm. Let's see . . . this is a dancing competition, right? I'm thinking that if the Fridge can deliver on the dance floor, then I'm not giving any points on "enthusiasm"—not in the finals.

    5 - LANCE BASS Lacey Schwimmer  ( J-Score: 9 + 8 + 9 = 26,   J-Rank #5 )
                  Samba —

Their Samba choreography was ambitious. Lance had to learn a lot of content He did well. But this wasn't a "10" routine!

    4 - WARREN SAPPKym Johnson  ( J-Score: 9 + 10 + 9 = 28,   J-Rank #4 )
                  Freestyle —

The Judges are seeing, what I'm seeing. Warren is NOT as good as the other two couples in the finals.     3 - BROOKE BURKEDerek Hough  ( J-Score: 9 + 9 + 10 = 28,   J-Rank #3 )
                 Samba —

Brooke's voltas looked pretty amateurish, other than that, the rest of the steps looked very good. The "9" scores look right. The "10" score from Bruno . . . that's just contrived theatrics, to create the illusion of a spectacular performance.

    2 - LANCE BASS Lacey Schwimmer  ( J-Score: 10 + 9 + 10 = 29,   J-Rank #2 )
                  Freestyle —

Hip Hop routine. It kind had that SYTYCD flavor. It was good. I think it will have appeal for the teenage audience. Three "9" scores is about right. I'm surprized one of the Judges didn't flip up a gratuitous "10" score. This routine was definitely better compared to Kym & Clydesdale.

    1 - BROOKE BURKEDerek Hough  ( J-Score: 10 + 10 + 10 = 30,   J-Rank #1 )
                 Freestyle —

Brooke & Derek pull out all the stops, and go for the gusto! Brooke is hoisted up to the Judges Desk, and Derek joins her there to do a little boogaloo! First, Brooke sheds her "Mary-Had-A-Little-Lamb" dress, for something skimpier underneath. A few more leaps and lifts later, the Judges declare this freestyle routine the BEST in DWTS History.

Final Finish:

Brooke is the favorite! Lance is the next best dancer, and Big Boy is enthusiastic! That's the order I call, until we see more tomorrow night. It comes down to Fan Base, for the most part. Hopefully, there's enough independent voters out there to simply cast votes for the Stars who delivered the goods. That would put Brooke and Lance on top of the pile.

Cody & Julianne reach the end of their DWTS rope!

Results Show & Final Performance:

    3 - WARREN SAPPKym Johnson  ( J-Score: 9 + 9 + 9 = 27,   J-Rank #3 )
                  Hustle —

    2 - LANCE BASS Lacey Schwimmer  ( J-Score: 9 + 9 + 10 = 28,   J-Rank #2 )
                  Jitterbug —

    1 - BROOKE BURKEDerek Hough  ( J-Score: 10 + 10 + 10 = 30,   J-Rank #1 )
                 Viennese Waltz —

The Judges aren't crazy, they know good dancing when they see it. They've put the dancers in the proper order: Brooke, Lance, and Warren. Now we'll see who have Fan Base. Again, in a couple of seasons former NFL Football Players have placed higher than their abilities deserve.

The couple coming in 3rd place is Lance and Lacey. So are NFL Football Fans watching Dancing with the Stars, or what? I don't get it. Maybe its the underdog phenomenon, where people want to vote for a deserving underdog. Warren was a good enough dancer to advance beyond half the field of dancers, BUT . . . gettin into the
