Words of Worth: A Christmas beyond "Sound and Fury"
 by Dr Matt

Dear Friends:

Our world is filled with needless noise; we live in a world deluged in worthless, empty words! Words that have no life in them; an emptiness that Shakespeare wrote about in MacBeth:

"To-morrow, and to-morrow, and to-morrow, creeps in this petty pace from day to day to the last syllable of recorded time, and all our yesterdays have lighted fools the way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle! Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more: it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

To what purpose do we do or say . . . anything? And what does it all mean in the end, if our brief candle simply dies out and all sound and fury, strutting and fretting, signifies "nothing." Thus, I long to hear and speak words that matter; I seek to be lifted by words that make a difference—words worth living.

It's intriguing that the Apostle John referred to Jesus as "the Word." Through Jesus, we have words that matter, words that make a difference. He said:

“I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness,
but shall have the light of life. . . . I am the way, the truth, and the life.”

There is only one Way that our brief candle-light continues beyond a dusty death; Christ has given His word, His promise of eternal life:

“God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For
God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;
but that the world through him might be saved.”

These are words of worth, words that make a Divine difference! Words that witness that Jesus is the Christ, the Savior of mankind, the Healer of our souls, the Light and Life of the world, the babe of Bethlehem born of Mary—the Son of God.

The wise will listen to His words and live them.
